What to Expect For an Exterior Paint Project
CONSULTATION
We are happy to give our ideas and suggestions about the finish and type of paint that should be used, and we can even bring samples of paint to show you. We know a lot about paint, and we work with top brands.
PROTECTION
We use drop cloths or plastic to cover all of the plants, furniture, and grills to keep them safe. It's also important to keep paint where it belongs, so we work with you to close all the windows and storm windows, or we'll find another solution.
SURFACE PREPARATION
To protect your investment in painting the outside of your house, we take special care to prepare the surface including:
- Remove dirt and mildew.
- Make the best surface for adhesion.
- Scrape and sand off any paint that is flaking or coming off.
- Prime, caulk, and putty in places where they need it.
- Check for broken or rotten wood. (If there is wood that needs to be replaced or fixed, we will work with you to make this happen.)
- Nail down any loose boards, moldings, or nails that are sticking out.
WINDOW PREP
We make sure that your windows are safe while we paint, which could mean taking out the windows and screens if needed. At the end of the project, everything that was taken off (downspouts, storm windows, shutters, etc.) will be put back.
HOW TO PAINT RIGHT
We paint all of the layers, including the last one, by following safety rules to protect your home and our workers.
